Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to have an enrolled student on my team?
No. Anyone with an idea relevant to education is eligible to enter.

What stage of development should my product/service be?
It can range from ideation to operational business.

When is the application deadline? What does it cost?
March 1st at 11:59 PM. It is free to register and submit an entry.

Do I need to submit a business plan?
No. All you need to do is upload a one-page summary of your idea on your account.

What is the review process?
The judging panel will review all applications using these criteria and will select finalists to present on Saturday, April 14th.

When will finalists be notified?
All applicants will be notified by March 19th if they were selected as a finalist.

Where is the final event located?
Finals will take place on April 14th at the Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship, 1201 W State Street, West Lafayette, IN 47906 at 3:00 PM. There will be a networking reception prior to the event at 2:00 PM.

What happens at the pitch competition?
If selected, you will pitch your company in front of a panel of judges. Your team will give a 6-minute presentation, followed by 4 minutes of Q&A from our judges. Following the presentation, the judges will deliberate and announce the winners. The event is free and open to the public; friends and family are invited to attend.

If I am not selected as a finalist, can I still participate in the event?
Yes. There will be a networking reception prior to the finalist presentations at 2:00 PM, and you are also welcome to attend the finalist presentations beginning at 3:00 PM.

What types of teams have won in the past?
This is the first year for edupitch, so we have yet to award any teams. You can be featured here in the future!

Is there a minimum or maximum number of team members required to be on a team or present in the finals?
Nope.

How is the stage set up for final presentations?
The finalists will be given one large screen to present with. Below are photos of the stage and room in which the finalists will present.
